Ruby Mae Schenkel, 62, of New Castle, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Born April 15, 1940, in Lee County, Va., she was the daughter of Charles Boyd and Della (Brooks) Fultz. She married Larry E. Schenkel on Dec. 30, 1963, and he survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Lisa) Willoughby of New Castle and Mrs. Doug (Kim) Mohr of Fairland; two sons, Jack (Paula) Neukam of Westport and Lance (Holly) Schenkel of Richmond; two stepchildren, Mrs. David (Sheree) Porter of Tallahassee, Fla., and Chris Schenkel of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Leatrice Martin and Mrs. Steve (Louise) Nycum, both of Harrogate, Tenn., and Ruth Biehl of Rushville; two brothers, Ralph Fultz of Hawaii and Ronald Fultz of Harrogate, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen Sue Schenkel, two sisters, Betty Shoffner and Elizabeth Gilliam, and one brother, Riley Fultz.

Mrs. Schenkel was kitchen manager for 16 years at Raintree Inn in New Castle, retiring in 2000. She previously had been assistant manager for many years at Mac's Sandwich Shop in New Castle. She also was a member of First Baptist Church in Rushville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S. Memorial Drive in New Castle and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 1431 W. U.S. Highway 52.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. John Dunaway officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville.
