James B. "Jim" McGoodwin, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, in a Fort Worth, Texas hospital.

The son of Adrian and Reida (Ballard) McGoodwin, he was born Oct. 26, 1931, at Woodford.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Arlington Heights Christian Church, Fort Worth. Burial with military honors will be in the Woodford Cemetery in Woodford, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008.


Jim had retired in 1988, from the Texas National Guard with the rank of a Two-Star Major General, following 38 years of service.


He had also retired from General Dynamics after over 35 years. Jim loved to camp, but above all of that he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.


Survivors include his wife, Jane Lowery McGoodwin, of the home in Benbrook, Texas; his mother, Reida McGoodwin, Ardmore; three sons, David McGoodwin and his wife, Sadi, Dallas, Mark McGoodwin, Benbrook, and Don McGoodwin and his wife, Nancy, Fort Worth; grandchildren, Charlie, Red, Anna, Creed, Logan, Liza and Lexi; his sister, Willene Grimes, O'Fallon, Ill.; and sister in law, Emilu Richards, Denver.


A time of visitation and support for the family will be Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
