Charles H. Morris, 87, retired farmer of Martinez, Ga., entered into rest June 5, 1954 at 2:20 a.m. at a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at Abilene Baptist Church today at 4 p.m. The Rev. M.M. Hahn and the Rev. Joseph S. Dukes will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at Elliott Sons Funeral Home until the hour of the service. Mr. Morris, a native of Martinez was the son of the late C.C. Morris and Bell Benning Morris. Active pallbearers: Jim Scoggins, Rufus Lanier, Gus O'Neil, John Yarborough, Charles Clemmer and Allen Gay. Honorary pallbearers: Gus Crawford, J.C. Bivens Sr., J.F. Gibbs, William Rountree, W.C. Knox, Herman Morris, Lindsay Knox, Marshall Baston, Jake Knox, Jake Pollard, G.B. Lamkin, Joe Brown Ramsey and Phinizy Ramsey. Survivors are his wife; Mrs. Susan Connor Morris; three sons, H. Hartwell Morris of Martinez, Ga., Floyd C. Morris of Evans, Ga. and Lonnie Morris of Augusta; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Scoggins of Martinez and Mrs. Lizzie Eva Almasian of Augusta, and eight grandchildren. Elliott Sons.
