Jean was born on Feb. 7, 1926 in Runnels, Iowa, to Fred and Lottie Wilson.

After her graduation from Runnels High School, she earned a degree at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

On Dec. 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to George Alan Lesnet. They were blessed with three children.

Sadly, George Lesnet preceded her in death on April 23, 1971.

On Jan. 26, 1976, she married Marion Thomas Wakefield. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1994.

Jean worked as a school teacher for 10 years and then as an accountant for 20 years.

Jean Wakefield, age 91, of Blair, Nebraska, passed away Oct. 13 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Graveside services will take place in the Indianola, Iowa, Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Left with memories are children: Barbara Milner of Kansas City, Mo.; Rita (William) Bartelt of Omaha, Michael (Virginia) Lesnet of Orland Park, Ill., and stepson John Wakefield; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, George A. Lesnet and Marion T. Wakefield, and stepchildren, Cheryl Meier and Thomas Wakefield. The family requests donations in Jean's name be made to the American Red Cross.
