Mrs. Stoner was born May 7, 1908, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Edward G. and Eva Josephine Trexler Shepherd. She was educated in Rowan County schools, was a homemaker, worked on the family farm and had also worked at North Carolina Finishing Company.
She was a lifelong member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and a member of the Hazel Trexler Sunday School Class and WELCA.
Her husband, Robert Glenn Stoner, who she married 11/27/1926, died in 1974.
Survivors include sons Robert G. Stoner Jr., and wife Christina of Roebuck, S.C., and Thomas E. Stoner and wife Katie of Richfield; sister Edith Goodman of Gold Hill; grandchildren Glenn C. Stoner of Lake Wylie, S.C., Greg R. Stoner of Lincolnton, Janie L. Stoner of Richfield and Angie Stoner Tart of Dunn; and great-grandchildren Merisa D. Stoner and Kristina K. Stoner of Lincolnton and Marcus E. Tart and Joel A. Tart of Dunn.
Service: Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Matthews Lutheran Church by the Rev. Gary S. Coble, pastor. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
Visitation: The family will be at Powles Funeral Home from 5-6:30 p.m. Saturday. At other times, they will be at the home of son Thomas E. Stoner.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Family Life Center, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
