Mrs. Goodman was born in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Edward A. and Josephine Trexler Shepherd. She was a lifetime member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, a WELCA member, and the oldest member of the Liberty Home Demonstration Club.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by sisters Ethel Young, Freda Stoner and Fannie Younce, and a brother, Edward N. Shepherd.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Leo Goodman; son Robert Goodman and wife Judy of Salisbury; daughter Jane Boggs of Salisbury (the late Chaplain Jay Boggs); daughter Martha Kluttz and husband Rick of Durham; son Randall Goodman and wife Christine of Pittsboro; grandchildren Sam Goodman of Salisbury, Ginger Wescott (William) of Washington, N.C., Tricia Goodman of Greensboro, Tamara Klingsheim (Peter) of Brentwood, Calif., Rev. Derek Boggs (Meredith) of Lexington, Amanda Berg (Eric) of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Cmdr. Gary Kluttz, USN of Belgium, Ed Kluttz (Page) of Greensboro, Emily Kluttz of Salisbury, David Goodman (Nicola) of Pittsboro, Matthew Goodman of Charlotte; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthews Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Gary Coble, Pastor, Rev. Derek Boggs and Vicar Volley Hansen. Burial in the church cemetery.
