Robert Benjamin Jenkins died early leaving a large family to his wife Vesta Jenkins. Robert was sick for many years with lung problems. He either had lung cancer or TB. Vesta was left with the following children: Herman and Helen, Twins, 15 years old; Robert Holly 13 years old; Milton and Mildred, Twins, 8 years old; Charles 5 years old; Judy was born 3 months after the death of her father. Herman became the male head of the family and in later years was an engineer at a factory. He married Zelda Eakes and they had two children. Helen became a housewife when she married John Burkes and they had two children. Robert Holly was a machinist and married Zola Owens and they had two children. Milton spent a career in the US Air Force and married Sandra Fortson and they had three children. Mildred became a house wife after she married Rodney Kirkland and they had one child. Charles went into private business and married Bobby Smith and they had one child. Judy became a house wife when she married David Pullin and they had one child. Both Herman and Robert Holly were veterans of the Korean War and were in combat at the same time. Vesta is to be commended in keeping the family together and raising them on her own to become successful men and women. None of Vesta's children were involved in drugs or other illegal activities. At the time of this writing July 30, 2012 Herman, Helen, Charles and Judy are dead leaving Robert Holly, Milton, and Mildred.
