Frances was born May 13, 1909, in the St. Benedict community, the sixth of seven daughters born to Henry and Bernadine Macke Wessel. She grew up there and attended St. Mary's School at St. Benedict. She attended Mount St. Scholastica Academy for a year before returning to the family farm.
On February 27, 1935, she married Cyril Stallbaumer at St. Mary's Church at St. Benedict. In 1944, they purchased the Wessel family farm south of St. Benedict, where she lived from birth to 1973, with only one short interruption.
She and Cyril retired from farming in 1973 and moved to a new home in Seneca. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1985. Cyril died April 9, 1991.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and St. Ann's Altar Society at the church. She was a former member of St. Mary's Church and the Altar Society at St. Benedict.
Frances enjoyed doing needlework and sewing for her children. She raised a big garden every year and did lots of canning.
Survivors include sons, Charles Stallbaumer, Centralia, KS; Dennis Stallbaumer, Seneca, KS; daughters, Janice Haverkamp, Bern, KS; Marceil Dressman, Seneca, KS; Carol Keegan, Pawnee City, NE; Sr. Rose Marie Stallbaumer, O.S.B., Atchison, KS; Sue Spielman, Seneca, KS; sisters, Elizabeth Olberding, Seneca, KS; Loretta Steinlage, Corning, KS; 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Hilda Broxterman, Mary Burdick, Rose Deters, and Agnes Tangeman.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Seneca, KS. Burial was in the church cemetery.
