George W. Blissard, 85, dies in Houston
Services for George Wesley Blissard, 85-year-old lifelong resident of Chickasaw county who died at 10:30 pm, Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Marvin Flemings, following an illness of two years, were conducted Wednesday at 10 am from the Houston Funeral Home.
The Rev. Doc Jeter and the Rev. S. E. Johnson officiated.
Burial was in the Elzey Cemetery in Calhoun county with Houston Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Blissard was born on March 10, 1874, the son of the late George Wesley Blissard and Elizabeth Coleman Blissard. His wife was the late Mrs. Connie Blissard. He was a member of the Thorn Methodist Church.
He leaves five sons, Walton, Ulmont, John, Kimble and Grady Blissard, all of Houston; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Lovelace and Mrs. Caylous Ashby, both of Vardaman, and Mrs. Flemings of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Martha Jones of Thorn, and 18 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
