Ralph Groves, 74, was found dead Monday evening at his home two and a half miles south of Milford, by his granddaughter. He had been in failing health for sometime, but death was unexpectedly and apparently due to a heart attack suffered possibly sometime Saturday night.
A retired farmer and native of Elkhart County he was born Sept. 28, 1890 to Homer and Cloe (Whitehead) Groves. He and Auddrey Roop were married May 9, 1914. He was a resident of Jefferson and Van Buren townships most of his life.
Surviving are two sons, Merlin and Ralph Jr. Groves, both of Milford; one brother, John of Elkhart; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mishler Funeral Home in Milford. Rev. Howard Krieder, pastor of the New Salem Church of the Brethren will officiate. Interment will be in Milford cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home afternoon Wednesday and until the hour of the services.
