As a child, Margaret attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in Clay Hill, Florida. She and her family walked to Long Branch Church to attend services. As a young lady, she taught school at Duck Pond and Kingsley Lake Schools. When she taught at Kingsley, she stayed with Fro Strickland's family (per Lavina Lewis). On 21FEB1914 she married Clarence Martin Hudson at the courthouse in Bradford County, Florida. She and Clarence had four daughters.
