OBIT: "Mrs. Elisabeth Austin, __55 Enterprise Street, died early Wednesday morning at a local hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Austin was a native of Baker County, coming to Jacksonville seven years ago. She was a member of Woodstock Baptist Church. Those who survive her are one daughter, Mrs. Vera Bar___er of ____ city; three sons – Loyd, Chester and Elzie Austin, all of Jacksonville; five sisters – Mrs. Annie Carter, Mrs. Nancy Perry and Mrs. Ida George, all of Clay County; four brothers – W.A. Leroy, John and Raiford Starling, all of Clay County. The interment will be made in the Long Branch Cemetery in Clay County." Per 1920 Duval County Census, "Lizzie" Austin and husband Charles S. Austin had 3 sons: Lloyd L. Austin (16), Lester (12), Elzie (10) and one daughter Vera (7).
The 1900 Clay County census states Lizzie and "Stramder" Austin were married in 1899. Per family history notes of Leona Hudson Hitzing: Elizabeth was the twin sister of Emma Louise Starling McEwen, married Charles "Strauder" Austin, who died of peritonitis. Per FLA death record (ref. cn2345; FLL microfilm 2135208): Elizabeth Austin, daughter of Samuel J. Starling and Hester Redding was buried 10-Feb-1927 in Long Branch Cemetery, Clay County, FL.
Charles' death record states he was born in 1877, lived on Enterprise Street, died 23JUL1922, was buried 25JUL1922 and was the son of Frank Austin and Ade Wilkinson. Hazel Austin, the 1 yr., 10-month-old daughter of Lizzie and Charles, also died 23JUL1922 and was buried on 25JUL1922 (in Maxville, FL).
