Daughter of Arthur Augustus Finley and Kate Cameron; never married. She was one of the earliest children born in North Wilkesboro and was the first child to be baptised in the North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church on June 16, 1893. After being educated at the Finley School and Southern Presbyterian College, she took a nurses training course at Stuart Circle Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. After working in New York City as a nurse for several years, Lucy returned to "Riverview" and became her father's bookkeeper at the Wilksboro Manufacturing Co. She was active in the North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church, the local UDC chapter, and the Rendezvous Mountain Chapter of the DAR. (information from the Wilkes County Heritage Book, author Karen B.
