Son of Arthur Augustus Finley and Kate Cameron; husband of Lucile Woodall Blair (previously married); He was educated at the Finley School, North Wilkesboro High School and Davidson College. Arthur served two years in the National Guard in Wilkes. For many years, he worked as a textile machinist technician for the Soco-Lowell Co. in the Southeastern US. After World War II, the Soco-Lowell Co. sent Arthur to war ravaged France and Belgium to supervise the re-construction of the devastated textile mills. He spent several years thus aiding his European counterparts. He married Lucile in Eatonton, George, where she was from.
