Son of Arthur Augustus Finley and Kate Cameron; husband of Annie May Barnes. Gordon was employed as an engineer for the state highway commission before joining his father in the Wilkesboro Manufacturing Co., where he became president in 1938. He served as a town commissioner and was active in the American Legion and the Kiwanis Club. He also served as a deacon, elder and treasurer of the North Wilkesboro Presybterian Church. He was extremely active in the Boy Scouts and received the Silver Beaver Award. He died of a heart attack. (information from Wilkes County Heritage Book, article by Karen B. Binter)
