Thomas Dean Wakefield was born on May 11, 1944, in Blair, Nebraska to Barbara (Gibbons) and Marion T. Wakefield. He graduated from Blair High School in 1962. Tom served as a lineman with OPPD in Omaha for 33 years and retired in 2000. He married Sue Wolfe at Fremont, Nebraska on February 1, 1970

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and sister Cheryl Meier of Omaha.

He enjoyed the challenges and rewards of raising livestock with his faithful Australian Shepherd Maggie--t was their life's work.

Tom's fishing trip to Canada was a yearly event. Tom had an infectious laugh and a work ethic that was bigger than life itself.

Memorial services for Thomas Dean Wakefield age 71 of Kennard, Nebraska will be held Thursday October 8, 2015 at 10:00AM at South Creek Conference Center, 715 Grant Street, Blair, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 7 with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Campbell Aman Funeral Home. Mr. Wakefield was taken suddenly on October 1, 2015 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center by an aortic aneurism.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sue of Kennard; his children: Troy (Beth) Wakefield of Blair, Mike (Susan) Wakefield of Kennard, Jacqueline Welchert and friend Tom Muff of Blair, and Chad (Sheila) Lippincott of Blair; 11 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and brother John (Jeanne) Wakefield of Omaha.

Memorials are suggested to the Kennard Volunteer Fire Department, Kennard, Nebraska.

The funeral service was 10 am Thursday, October 8, 2015, South Creek Conference Center, Blair, Nebraska. Pastor Jim Wakefield officiated, and Scott Wachter was soloist. Vocal selections: "This One's With Me" and "Amazing Grace". Honorary Casket Bearers: Blake Wakefield, Brodie Wakefield, Clay Wakefield, Colt Wakefield, Jake Welchert.

Private family burial at a later time.

Following the service the family invites everyone to a buffet luncheon.
