Born December 14, 1904 in Maryville to Henry Foster and Mary Hahn Foster, Mrs. Nelson was a retired teacher and homemaker. She was a graduate of Maryville High School and Northwest Missouri State University where she was valedictorian of both senior classes. A life-long resident of Maryville, she married Fred Nelson on May 30, 1926 in Maryville.
She was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Nelson, Maryville; six sons, Max Nelson, Bethany, Wayne Nelson, Pickering, Charles Nelson, Success, Dale Nelson, Maryville, David Nelson, Ravenwood, Dr. James Nelson, Waterloo, Iowa; a brother, Paul Foster, Littleton, Colorado; a sister, Ruth Foster, Maryville; 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Price Funeral Home in Maryville with Elder Gary Collins officiating.
Burial will be in Nodaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Price Funeral Home, Inc. of Maryville.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be given to the Fred and Grace Nelson Scholarship fund at Northwest Missouri State University.
