Eleanor Holm, age 88, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Huron, died Friday, May 13, 2005, at Avera McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls.

Eleanor Holm was born Eleanor Bertha Helseth on February 4, 1917, to John and Edith (Kukuk) Helseth in Sanborn County near Woonsocket, SD. As a young girl she moved with her parents to Huron where she attended school. After completion of her formal education she worked as a housekeeper for the Hedblom family in Huron.

On September 28, 1935, Eleanor married Lebert "Lee" Holm at Huron. They made their home in Huron until 1938, when they moved to Little Falls, MN, where Eleanor worked at the Red Owl Grocery Store in the produce department. In 1947, they moved to Sioux Falls, where she worked for Sunshine Foods in the deli, and for Lewis Drugstore in concessions and the toy department. She retired in 1974 and the couple moved to Rapid City. After her husband's death in 1998, Eleanor returned to Sioux Falls.

She was a past member of Calvary Lutheran Church at Rapid City, and a member of East Side Lutheran Church at Sioux Falls. Her many interests included cooking, baking, crafts, puzzles, and reading.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Nancy (Don) Renner of Sioux Falls, and Barbara (Woodson) Davis of West Valley City, UT; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 1 brother, Kenneth (Judy) Helseth of Huron; 1 sister, Janice (Galen) Nelson of Huron; and 1 brother-in-law, Kenneth Hedberg of Lake Preston, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee on August 26, 1998; 3 sisters, Esther Hegg, Bernice Lee, and Beverly Hedberg; and 2 brothers-in-law, Jim Lee, and Walter Hegg.

Her funeral service will be Tuesday, May 17, at American Lutheran Church with Chaplain Char Donaldson officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
