Capt. Benjamin Shed, was born in Billerica, Mass., 5 Aug. 1696. As only surviving son of his father, he succeeded to the latter's homestead. His death took place on 9 Oct. 177(0), at the age of seventy-four years, and his gravestone stands near that of his father in the old South Burial Ground in Billerica. He married first, about 1719, Abial [Manning]; she had seven children and died 21 Mar. 1736/37. He married secondly, at Billerica, 11 Apr. 1738, Elizabeth Hill, born there 10 Dec. 1706, daughter of Joseph and Susanna (Baldwin) Hill; five children by this marriage.

He was the son of John Shed and Sarah Chamberlain. In 1719, he married Abiel Manning (born December 16, 1698), and they had seven children, all born in Billerica, Massachusetts:
