Mr. S.T. Woolworth, an aged and respected citizen of Gratiot, was thrown from a buggy last Friday evening and sustained injuries from which he died about two hours later. Mr. Woolworth was the survivor of three wars, having taken part in the Black Hawk war, the Mexican war and the civil war. In the last war he lost an arm and also received other injuries. It is a striking example of the mysterious ways of Providence that this hero of three wars should survive the dangers of battle and meet his death in the manner stated above.
The funeral was held on Monday, the remains being laid to rest in the Gratiot cemetery. He leaves an aged widow, and several children to mourn his loss.
