Darlington- Walter W. Woolworth, 87, retired southern Wisconsin educator, died late Monday at a Darlington hospital after a long illness. Mr. Woolworth was born in Des Plaines, Ill. and attended Platteville Normal School and Northwestern University. He taught at Rewey from 1899 to 1902, at Darlington from 1902-1905, and at Dodgeville from 1905 to 1908. He was principal at Darlington from 1908 to 1914, Lafayette county superintendent of schools from 1914 to 1929, and Lafayette county supervising teacher from 1929 to 1936, when he retired.
He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm today at the Sharer funeral home.
