He married Ruth Cubbage on March 24, 1915, daughter of Frank O. Cubbage and Mary Frances Lease Cubbage. Ruth was born August 29, 1892, and passed away Sept. 25, 1929. Children were Roland Spotts, and an adopted daughter, Vera. Ruth had a sister, Florence Pattison, and a brother, Glenn Cubbage. Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Ida County, Battle Creek, Iowa 51006.
Following the death of Ruth, he left Iowa, and eventually settled in Portland, Oregon, in the late 1930s or early 1940s. He married Bonnie Mabel Chambers. He stayed in Portland the rest of his life.
He was survived by his son Roland Edward, 6 grandchildren, Shirley Ann Carothers, Kenneth Edward Spotts, Mary Ellen Myers, Ruth Helen Lentz, Deborah Jean Chastain, and Stephen Roland Spotts. He also had many great grandchildren.
Edward & Bonnie Spotts are both buried (cremation urn) at Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home and Mausoleum at 6705 SE 14th Ave in Portland, Oregon.
