Carl Robbie Nance, 90, of Meadowbrook Manor of Clemmons, formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Meadowbrook Manor. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Reformed United Church of Christ, where he was a member, by the Rev. Mike Hooper. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Nance was a lifetime resident of Lexington and was born on Dec. 8, 1910, to the late James Marshall Nance and Merriett Lourella Davis Nance. He operated Nance Home Improvements before his retirement. Mr. Nance was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Sarah Spry Nance; his brothers, Bradley Nance, James Nance, Sherman Nance, Hollan Dae Nance and Ed Foy Nance; his sisters, Beulah N. Blythe, Georgia N. Sink and Hettie Nance; his sons-in-law, James "Buddy" Edward Crowell and Donald Carl Haynes; and a grandson, Edward Robbie Crowell. Surviving are two daughters, Patsy N. Crowell of Morganton and Mary Lou N. Haynes of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Donna Lou H. McCachern and her husband, Larry, of Dallas, Texas, Amelia H. Smith and her husband, Bill, Christopher Carl Haynes and Cynthia C. Little and her husband, Ray, all of Winston-Salem; nine great-grandchildren, Robert William McCachern, Steven William Smith, Michelle Christina Smith, twins David Carl Smith and Meredith Lee Smith, George Travis White Jr., Traci Michelle White, Jeri Megan Little and Jacob Crowell Little.
