LIBERTY: Beatrice L. "Bea," of Lyndon Center, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, April 17, 2004, at her home with her family by her side, at the age of 84.

She was born in St. Johnsbury, Aug. 24, 1919, daughter of the late Thomas H. and Laura M. (LaChance) Williams. She attended St. Johnsbury Schools and was a member of St. Johnsbury Academy's Class of 1937.

On Oct. 27, 1940, she married Cedric J. Liberty Sr. They lived in the St. Johnsbury area and later moved to Lyndon Center in 1962.

Bea was active in her community and was a very dedicated member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 10038 of Lyndonville and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 30 of Lyndon for the last 50 years, holding many offices, including president. She was lifetime member of the Tom Breslin Center and was a member of the Lyndon Historical Society.

She enjoyed helping people, quilting, sewing, going shopping, spending time at camp in South Wheelock and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, C. James Liberty Jr. and his wife Shirley of Lyndonville, Peter T. Liberty of Lyndon Center, and John L. Liberty of South Wheelock; her daughter, Nancy Kidnocker and her husband Robert of Chillicoth, Ohio; eight grandchildren, James, Thomas, Susan, Jeffrey, Robert, Peter, Kari and Linda; 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, Raymond Williams and his wife Peggy of Florida; two sisters, Pauline Hawkins of St. Johnsbury and Arlene Trask and her husband George of Randolph; six sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Williams of St. Johnsbury, Jean Liberty of Levittown, Pa., Madeline Garten and Joanne Chaput, both of Chicopee, Mass., Margaret Liberty of Burlington, and Betty Salvadore and her husband Paul of Massachusetts; two brothers-in-law, Willard Liberty and his wife Patricia of Pennsylvania and Leonard Liberty and his wife Beatrice of Windsor Locks, Conn.; nieces; nephews; and many wonderful friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Cedric Liberty Sr. in 1979; her brother Thomas Williams; and her sister, Lucille McGinnis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 21, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lyndonville with the Rev. Stephen Nichols, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
