His death marked the beginning of nearly a quarter of a century of family quarrels and court litigations over the family estate. His mother, sister Cornelia, brothers Wheeler and Denio did not attend the funeral.
Grove Lawrence Loomis was buried in an unmarked grave in the family plot at Sangerfield Cemetery.
