BLACKSHEAR ‹ James Paul Peacock, 72, died early Monday morning (Dec. 5, 2005) at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.
A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, he had worked as a salesman with the Standard Coffee Company. He was a member of the Blackshear Church of God and was a son of the late Joseph Alvin and Mattie Godwin Peacock. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lawana Kent Peacock, who passed away August 12, 2005.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane (Carl) Perry of Blackshear, Gayle Melson of Stockbridge and Nancy (Randy) Tennyson of Thomaston; one son, Randy (Rene) Peacock of Blackshear; three step-daughters, Donna Hill of Manor, Pamela Slaughter of Brunswick and Shannon Minchew of Homerville; two step-sons, Mike Hill of Los Banos, Calif. and Gary (Joy) Hill of Augusta; eight grandchildren, Heather Wynn, Eric Tennyson, Jason Tennyson, Nicole Goddin, Leslie Melson, Clint Melson, Jason Strickland and Justin Strickland; four great-grandchildren, Alana Tennyson, Cole Goddin, Caleb Goddin and Chance Goddin and several other relatives.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Blackshear Church of God. Burial will be in the Blackshear Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
