Francis was the son of Robert Munford Alston and Margarett Ritner Fimple Alston.

SCOTLAND NECK - Rev. Francis Oliver Alston, 69, died Friday at his home.
Funeral services will be held Monday 11 a.m. Littleton Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Littleton, N.C. Rev. Alston graduated from Union Theological Seminary, Richmond Va. and served as pastor of Walkersville Presbyterian Church, Union County, N.C.; First Presbyterian Church, Ellerbe, N.C.; First Presbyterian Church, Fairmont, N.C.; William and Mary Hart Presbyterian Church, Tarboro, N.C.; Nahalah Presbyterian Church, Scotland Neck, N.C. Rev. Alston served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until he retired from the U.S. Army National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1990. He also served in various positions in Boy Scouts of America, Rotary Club Rurtian Club, Lions Club and others.
Rev. Alston is survived by his beloved wife, Mary L. Alston; sons Thomas Alston, Littleton, N.C. Steve Alston and wife Diddy of High Point, N.C., Frank Alston and wife Paula; three grandchildren, Allison Kristi and William of Norfolk, Va. sisters, Martha A Daughtrey, and husband Algie of Virginia Beach Virginia A. Chaffin and husband James of Richmond, Va., Doris A. Nielsen and husband Clare W. of
Raleigh, N.C., Charlotte A. Aycock and husband Willie B. of Littleton N.C.; brother, Robert Linwood Alston and wife Doris of Littleton sister-in-law, Maxine Alston, Roanoke Rapids. The family will be receiving friends at Carlisle Funeral Home Tarboro, Sunday 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Barium Springs Children's Home, Barium Springs, N.C. Littleton Presbyterian Church or to your local church.
