Norman was the son of Albert Garver (1855-1938) and Lillian McGaw (1856-1908). He married Della Cora (Hays) DePreste Robb on May 29, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, Lawrence County, Missouri. Norm was Della's third husband and loved by all who knew him. It was his first and only marriage and her children and grandchildren were as his own. After Della's death in 1937, Norm stayed on the farm until the mid 1940's, when he sold the family farm to my parents Paul and Evelyn (Hook) DePreste and moved into the nearby town of Miller.

Norm later entered the Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska. I met this fine gentleman when I was a young teenager and will never forget the affection between him and my father. They truly were grandfather and grandson.

Della was buried next to her first husband James Timothy DePreste at Davis Cemetery near Miller. Norm was buried at Nelson Cemetery as are his parents.
