C.C. Adams Dies After Long Illness

Funeral services for Clinton C. Adams, 83, were held at 3:00 o'clock Monday afternoon, May 8, from the Sandersville Christian Church with the Rev. E.G. Orahood, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Adams, a retired farmer, died at his home in Sandersville Saturday afternoon, May 6th after an extended illness.

Born in Washington County on October 22, 1866, he was the son of the late Hopewell Adams and Julia Mathis Adams. Mr. Adams was a member of the Sandersville Christian Church.

Survivors are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. W.E. Hickson of Danville, Va., Mrs. Lyman Hodges of Sandersville, Mrs. Damon Little of Ocilla, and Mrs. Horace Burnham of Washington D.C.; one sister, Mrs. Julia A. Smith of Eastman; several grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Active pall bearers were Joe Brown Sr., Gene Mathis, Mack Tucker, J.D. Garner Jr., Newsom Summerlin and Clifton Adams.

Honorary pall bearers were Gainer Summerlin, John Palmer, Forrest English, C.A. Franchinot, Dr. P.M. Spiers, C.E. Mayo, C.F. Irwin Sr., John R. Irwin, W.D. Hall, C.D. Shelnutt, A.W. Smith and Dr. B.L. Helton.

Burial was in the City Cemetery of Milledgeville. Lang's Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
