Harold E. Hensch Sr., 87, of Tipton, peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, April 4, 2016, while surrounded by his beloved family at Cedar Manor, Tipton.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Memorial's in Harold's honor may be directed towards, Cedar Manor, Iowa City Hospice or Tipton Senior Dining.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 8, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa.

Harold Ernest Hensch was born March 9, 1929, in Bennett, the son of Herbert and Anna (Stolte) Hensch. He attended and graduated from Tipton High School with the class of 1946. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1950. Harold was united in marriage to Bonnie Geane Stankee on June 18, 1950, in Wheatland. They were blessed with two children, Sheryl and Harold Jr. Bonnie passed away on April 15, 2011.

Harold was employed with the Iowa D.O.T., for 31 years before his retirement. Fishing, camping and enjoying the outdoors was how he liked to spend his days. He also enjoyed Iowa Hawkeyes sports and the Cubs games. He was a proud member of the V.F.W., and American Legion.

He is survived by one daughter, Sheryl (Steve) Yerington of Tipton; one son, Harold (Kathy) Hensch Jr., of Humboldt; one sister, Carolyn (Ronald) Belitz of Tipton; one brother, Howard (Jo) Hensch of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Kelly (Kenny) Moen, Kris (Jess) Hensch, Michelle (Brandon) Ford, Nick (Kimberly) Yerington; two step-grandchildren, Tracy (Shannon) Bergmann, Troy (Kelly) Bergmann; six great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
