Dr. Robert (Bob) E. Cutler passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 20, 2016. Bob was born on April 16, 1929 and raised on a ranch on the Upper Gallatin River, while spending school years in Bozeman, MT. He served as a medic in the Army Medical Corps from 1947-1950. Bob married Naomi Day in 1950. He attended Montana State University (now Univ. of Montana) in Missoula, working as a smokejumper for the US Forest Service during summers and graduating in 1954. Medical school at Washington University and residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO followed. He opened his internal medicine private practice in 1962, tirelessly serving the Espanola Valley for 18 years. His career in internal medicine extended another twenty years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and in Las Vegas, NV where he was joined in marriage to Martha Meger until her death in 1999.

Bob was active in the New Mexico Medical Society, serving as vice-president and president from 1973 to 1976. His limited free time was spent fly fishing, backpacking, hunting, and skiing with many friends and family in the Sangre de Cristo and surrounding southern Rocky Mountains. Bob retired with Naomi to Las Vegas, NM in 2000 where he was an active member of San Miguel Search and Rescue and continued to enjoy skiing and hiking in the Sangre de Christos. Naomi passed away on February 22, 2008 after a brief illness and Bob relocated to Albuquerque in 2010.

Bob is survived by his wife Fran Lisenbee with whom he shared his life since 2009, his sons and daughter with Naomi, Paul (Deborah) Cutler of Farmington, NM, Carol (Peter) Linder of Las Vegas, NM, and Charles (Chrissy) Cutler of Durango, CO; grandchildren Jennifer, Jamie, Christopher, Katie, Charlie, Blade, Zoe, and Paris; and great grandchildren Samuel and Magdalene. He also is survived by his sister Edna "Bubbles" Keepers, nieces Linda (Don), Sandy, and Trudy, and many grandnieces and nephews. Enriching his life were Martha's sons Eric (Karen) and Carl (Janie) Meger and their children, and Fran's family Phyllis (Bob), Roberta, Karla, Mike (Andrea), Alta (Dolph), Truva (Duke), Rob (Gabriella), their children and grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by wives Naomi D. Cutler and Martha O. Meger, and parents Abraham Cutler and Lucille Getz (Wilbur) Button. His stepfather was Wilber James Button (71514861). Cremation has taken place. Many of his ashes were scattered in the mountains as he wished. Ashes are also interned in the First United Presbyterian Church columbarium.
