Dorothy Walker Thompson, age 90, of Maryville, passed away December 22, 2015 at Blount Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church. Dorothy was a school teacher having taught at Six Mile and Mt. View Schools and was retired from Colonial Hills Nursing Home as a grooming assistant. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William Henry Thompson; parents, Elmer and Allie Best Walker; precious grand daughter, Ann Jeanene Williams Adams; sister and brother in law, Imogene and Lloyd Reagan, nephew, Roger David Reagan and great granddaughter, Brennah Young. Survivors include her daughters and sons in law, Kathleen and James E. Williams Jr., Helen and Cleve Young and Doris and Brian Poplin; grandchildren, Lana Pettis and husband, Randy, Allen and Kelly Young; great grandsons, Gavin and Abram Young; niece, Brenda Reagan; best friend since third grade at Lanier School, Mary Long Hill, and also best friends Lois Payne and Dorothy L. Lawson. A special thank you to Blount Memorial Hospital for the excellent care that was given and the compassion that was shown to us on the fourth floor and 2E. Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Miller Funeral Home, Rev. Bill White and Rev. Anthony Morgan officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
