Harry Hile Anderson, longtime resident of Ponca City, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, at his home. He was 93.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with the Rev. Larry B. Metzger, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Harry Hile Anderson was born Nov. 4, 1912, in rural Osage County to Emil and Sadie Lucksted Anderson. He received his early education in the PaHe schools in rural Osage County.

He and Ruby Lee Burrier were married in October of 1934 in Newkirk and established a home in Ponca City. To this union was born one son, Donald, who passed away in 1936, and one daughter, Pama. Ruby passed away in May 1993.

He began a career with Conoco in 1941, and was employed for 34 years before retiring on Dec. 1, 1975.

He was a World War II veteran, serving with the 687th Field Artillery Battalion from 1942 until he received an honorable discharge in December 1945. He served during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He has served as a deacon of the First Christian Church and been a member of Friendly Sunday school class where he led the singing and served as treasurer for more than 25 years.

Harry's hobbies included playing golf, gardening, bowling, camping, and fishing, as well as tinkering in his shop. He also loved playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He spent many years volunteering for the Senior Citizens Center and RSVP.

He later married Ruby M. Wallace in October 1993 and they continued to reside in Ponca City. They loved to travel and went on many trips.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby of the home; one daughter, Pama Lee Veal and her husband Coburn of Ponca City; three grandchildren, Chad Hall and his wife Robyn of Tonkawa, Jeremy Hall and his wife Cristie of Broken Arrow, and Meredith Cremers and her husband Blaine of Edmond; and five great-grandchildren, Garner Hall, Austun Hall, Kyle Hall, Grayson Hall and Morgan Hall.

Additional survivors include a sister, Vetta Klinger of Blackwell; several nieces and nephews; one stepson, Max Wallace and his wife Mary Lo of Norco, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Sue Wallace of Redlands, Calif.; four step-grandchildren, Scott Wallace, Leslie Hernandez and Carol Chaney, all of California, and Thomas Chaney and wife Natie of Mexico; six step great-grandchildren, Brianna, Mike, Clarinda and Richard, all of California, and David and Xhantel of Mexico.

In addition to his first wife, Ruby, and son, Donald, he was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Jolene Anderson, Ruth Schmidt, Sylvia Wilkerson, Elsie Townley and Emily Christenson; and two brothers, Marvin Anderson and Raymond Anderson.

Casket bearers will be his son-in-law, Coburn Veal; grandsons, Chad Hall, Jeremy Hall and Blaine Cremers; great-grandson, Garner Hall; and Danny Woolsey. Honorary bearers will be stepson, Max Wallace; great grandsons, Austun Hall, Kyle Hall and Grayson Hall; and great-granddaughter, Morgan Hall.
