Ruby Wallace Anderson, 95, longtime resident of Ponca City, died at her home on December 25, 2011.
Ruby Maxine Scott was born on March 16, 1916, at Windyville, Missouri to Calvin and Bessie (Brackley) Scott. She moved with the family to Ceres, Oklahoma at the age of one. She attended rural Long View School in Noble County and graduated from Red Rock High School in 1933. She attended Tonkawa Junior College and Edmond State College for two years.
Ruby married Robert W. Wallace on November 7, 1936. They moved to Ponca City to begin married life. To this union were born two children, Walter Max and Sue Ann. While her husband, Walt, was overseas during WW II, Ruby worked in the canning plant at CONOCO Oil Company. Upon his return from overseas, she became a loving housewife and mother for the rest of her life. Her husband, Walt, preceded her in death in 1992.
At the age of 77, Ruby married Harry H. Anderson on October 21, 1993. They celebrated over 12 joyous years of marriage. Harry passed away in 2006.
Ruby loved to cook, garden, camp and fish. She loved to travel and had visited all 50 states and several foreign countries. She joined the First Christian Church in 1943 and became a member of the Friendly Sunday School Class and served as president of the class several times. Ruby was also a Deaconess at the church and remained an active volunteer in church activities into her 90's. Ruby was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Besides her husbands, Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, sister Hazel and son Walter Max Wallace. She is survived by her daughter-Sue Ann Wallace of Ponca City and Redlands, CA, her daughter-in-law-Mary Lou Wallace of Norco, CA and a step-daughter; Pama Veal and her husband Coburn of Ponca City. She has 4 grandchildren; Scott Wallace of Hemet, CA, Leslie and Richard Hernandez of Barstow, CA, Carol Chaney of Redlands, CA and Thomas and Naty Chaney of Puerto Escondido, Mexico. Ruby is also survived by 3 step-grandchildrren; Chad and Robyn Hall of Tonkawa, Jeremy and Christie Hall of Broken Arrow, OK and Meredith Cremers of Edmond, OK. She also has 13 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 pm Wednesday evening at Grace Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the First Christian Church with Rev. Roberta Shaffer officiating, assisted by Dick Stone. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Ponca City. Casket bearers will be; Coburn Veal, Bob Faken, Ben Owens, Dick Stone, Cliff Schilling and Cecil Cales.
