Arlene was a private duty nurse serving throughout the greater Lehigh Valley for more than 17 years before retiring in 1972. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Cherryville. She was also a member of the Harmony Grange, Pennsville and was very active with the making of apple butter and selling it at Dorney Park years ago. She was a member of the quilters group at her church and she enjoyed bowling, polka and square dancing and playing cards.
Survivors: Surviving along with her husband, William J. Ruch are three daughters, Shirley I., wife of Harold Kulp, of Bath, Sara Jane, wife of Larry Hutchinson, of Northampton, Sandra A., wife of Steven Nagy, of Emmaus; son, Donald W. and his wife, Shirley Ruch, of Northampton; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her family.
Services: Services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, 2008 in Hope Lutheran Church, 4131 Lehigh Drive, Cherryville at 11 a.m. with calling hours 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the services in the church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Allen Township. Arrangements are being handled by Schisler Funeral Home Inc., 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton.
