William J. Ruch, 96, of Northampton, PA, E. Allen Twsp, died Friday, November 26, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Arlene E. (Mann) Ruch, who died in April 2008. Born in Northampton, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur A. and Lizzie J. (Frederick) Ruch.

William was a farmer for over 25 years, farming in E. Allen Twsp, PA. He also worked for the Martin Guitar Co. of Nazareth, PA for 10 years in the Repair Shop. He was a member of several churches throughout his life with his present membership at Hope Lutheran Church, Cherryville, PA. He was always part of the choir at each church and sang on the choirs for over 60 years. He was a member of the Allen Twsp., Vol. Fire Co., a life member and former ambulance driver for the East Allen Twsp. Vol. Fire Co., a member of the Mid-County Seniors Group, Bath, PA. He was a substitute Rural Mail Carrier for Northampton for 5 years; A PNC Bank Courier for five years. He was also a volunteer for over 15 years helping the Northampton Co. Meals on Wheels.

Survivors: He is survived by his two daughters, Sara Jane, wife of Larry Hutchison, of Northampton, PA, Sandra A., wife of Steven Nagy, of Emmaus, PA; son, Donald W. Ruch, and wife, Shirley, of Northampton, PA; son-in-law, Harold W. Kulp, of Bath, PA; five sisters, Mrs. Mabel Hower, of Wind Gap, PA, Helen, wife of Warren Odenwelder, of Bethlehem, PA; Mrs. Margaret I. Fogel, of Bethlehem, PA, Ellen, wife of Donald Cole, of Orefield, PA, Jeanette, wife of Kenneth Smith, of Nazareth, PA. 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Kulp in August 2010; and a brother, Franklin.

Services: Services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Hope Luteheran Church, 4131 Lehigh Dr., Cherryville, PA, 18035, with calling hours 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the services in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA, 18067. The Rev. Jaime Possinger will officiate. Interment will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery- Allen Twsp., in Northampton, PA.
