Leonard Lavon Plemons, 85, of Athens, passed away on Saturday morning, April 18, 2015, at NHC Health Care.

A native of Maryville, and a lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Gus and Ethel Hicks Plemons, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Dolan Plemons; a first wife; Eleanor Millsaps Plemons; daughter, Patty Mason; and was the last survivor of 18 siblings.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps Force during World War II, and was a member of Clay Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and a son, Brenda Brown of Athens, Deborah and spouse, Jimmy Gunn, of Athens, and Larry and spouse, Pamela Plemons, of Duluth, Ga.; stepchildren, Teresa Witt, and Jeff and David Dolan, all of Athens; grandchildren, Kevin and Keith Brown, Jeffrey, Brian, and Matthew Plemons, Gregory Mason, Robin Crisp, Ashlie Pryor, Justin and Jared McCosh, and Savannah Baker; and many great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will 7 p.m. Monday, April 20, in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Wilcox officiating.

Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, in McMinn Memory Gardens with full military honors.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ziegler Funeral Home in Athens.
