Bryant E. Plemons, 82, of Athens, passed away Friday, March 8, 2002, at Ft. Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

A native of Monroe County and lifelong resident of Athens, he was a son of the late Gus and Ethel Hicks Plemons and was a member of East Athens Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Athens Stove Works after 40 years and was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Nina Akins Plemons; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Johnson Plemons of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Dillard Peel of Athens; one son, Troy Plemons of Murfreesboro; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Jesse Plemons of Athens, and Leonard and Betty Plemons of Athens; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Sue and Bob Underdown of Athens, Gustay Brazzell of Athens; one granddaughter, Donna Evans Moore of Knoxville; one great-grandson, Dylan Evans of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Pete Mullins officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Leon Roy Sunday School class at East Athens Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
