WALTERBORO: Mrs. Laveta Long Koger, widow of both the late James Ralph Cook and James Henry Koger Jr., passed away Tuesday morning at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro after an extended illness. She was 93.
Mrs. Koger was born in Weatherford, TX September 8, 1921 a daughter of the late John William Long and Mattie Eva Waldrop Long. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Walterboro, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children: James Wesley Cook, MD (Naomi), John Ralph Cook (Roxanne), and William Gary Koger (Belinda). There are five grandchildren: Megan, Leslie, Wynter, Essex and Emma. In addition to her late husbands, Mrs. Koger was preceded in death by her grandson James Wesley Cook Jr., and by two brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held Saturday morning February 28, 2015 at 11:00 in the Bethel Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 in the church social hall, and memorials may be made to the church at 403 Church Street, Walterboro, SC 29488. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements
