Janet was born in Muncie on November 6, 1937, the daughter of Paul and Lucille (Richardson) Bateman, and was a graduate of Parker High School. Mrs. Stewart had an earned Associates Degree in Accounting from Indiana Business College.
Janet was a member of Towne Acres Church of Christ and Avondale Sympathy Club. She enjoyed reading sewing and tending her garden.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Oscar E. Stewart, Muncie; eight children, Cindy Saulmon, (husband-Danny), Savannah, Georgia, Keith Stewart, (wife-Judy), Cameron, North Carolina, Connie Schobel, Houston, Texas, Cheri Conner, (husband-Kevin), Savannah, Georgia, Kenneth Stewart, Muncie, Jack Stewart, Muncie, Carla Neuhouser, Savannah, Georgia, and Kent Stewart, Muncie; a brother, Delbert Bateman, (wife-Kathy), Colorado Springs, Colorado; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.
