Mary Jane Rorie Branscum was the first wife of Emanuel Mavity Branscum. They married 20 Aug. 1891. They had three children: William Arthur b. 5 Jul. 1893 d. 8 Feb. 1955, Martha Rebecca "Mattie" Branscum/Balentine b. 21 Sep 1894 d. 1 June 1956, Zedney Herbert Branscum b. 28 Apr 1898 d. 14 Jan 1938.

Mary Jane was the daughter of John B. Rorie and Martha Malinda Adline Wollard (daughter of Isaac Woolard). John and Martha had the following children: William 1869-1910, James A. b. 1871, Mary Jane, Samuel W. 1877-1950, Sarah Rebecca 1879-1954, Thomas 1880-1958, John Milo 1886-1967, George S. 1889-1965
