Helena E "Lena" Coffel, 94, Francesville, died at 9:05 a.m. Thursday in Pulaski Healthcare Center, where she had resided since 1989.
Born Sept 10, 1896, in Jasper County, she was the daughter of Adolf and Anna Walters Onken.
On Feb 9, 1923, she was married to Ezra Eldridge, who died March 28, 1927.
On Feb 22, 1941, in Lakeville, she was married to Leslie Coffel, who died May 12, 1976.
A homemaker, she had resided in Bremen from 1936 to 1979, when she returned to Francesville.
She was a member of the former Salem Evangelical Reform Church in Francesville. and attended Francesville First Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Glenn Eldridge, Francesville; one stepson, Raymond Coffel, Bremen; three stepdaughters, Ruth Huston, New Carlisle, Phyllis Heyde, Bremen, and Mary H Coffel, Plymouth; two sisters, Hilda Curwick, Monon, and Edna Dobbins, Francesville; two brothers, Edward and Walter Onken, both of Francesville; three grandchildren; 16 stepgrand-children; five great-grandchildren; 32 stepgreat-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 am Saturday in Vollmer Funeral Home, with the Rev James Gabhart officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-9 pm today and from 8 am until the time of the services Saturday in the funeral home, Memorial contributions may be made to Pulaski Healthcare Center or Gideons International.
