EDMUNDA MARIE HOPKINS
1933 – 2014
Edmunda "Eddie" Marie Hopkins age 81 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at St. Joseph Villa in Omaha, NE.
Eddie was born on February 21, 1933 to Charles John and Margaret Elizabeth (Kaiser) Mack in Kranzburg, SD. Edmunda was raised and schooled in Watertown, SD where she married Joseph Eugene Hopkins in 1950. Eddie and Joe lived and raised their family Norwalk IA. After moving to Nebraska, Edmunda worked as a loan clerk and she retired from Wells Fargo Bank in Omaha, NE. Eddie's favorite things were early morning picnics, the smell of bacon, early sunrises, and Colette's roses.
She was a member of the Church of The Holy Spirit, Catholic Daughters, and the Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW) all of Plattsmouth.
Eddie is survived by her son: James "Jim" Hopkins and wife Mary of Bellevue, NE, three daughters: Gaiana "Gai" Hopkins-Tapscott and husband John Tapscott of Indianola, IA, Colleen Wilkins of Bellevue, NE, Colette Soto of Plattsmouth, NE, five grandchildren: Matthew Soto and wife Kristie, Shantel Severn, Gene Wilkins and wife Annie, Jessica Petersen and husband Brett, Heather Reinhard, three great grandchildren: Taylor Severn, Madison Severn, Kailyn Soto, three sisters: Irene Peters of Sioux Falls, SD, Colette Norbeck of Watertown, SD, Mary Ann Wonderlin of Des Moines, IA, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Margaret Mack, two infant daughters: Mary Ellen Hopkins, Margaret Mary Hopkins, twin brother: Edmund Mack, and granddaughter: Angela Soto.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Church of The Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth, NE with Father Loras K. Grell officiating, Mary Lou Salazar as lector, Tony Salazar as acolyte, and Terry Little as vocalist.
The Honorary Pallbearers will be the Catholic Daughters Our Lady of Loretto Court 709 of Plattsmouth.
The internment of Eddie's cremains will be at a later date at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Watertown, SD.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for Masses at Church of The Holy Spirit or to a Food Bank of the donor's choice.
