Edmund E. Mack was born on February 21, 1933 in Watertown, South Dakota, to Charles J. and Margaret (Kaiser) Mack.
He joined the Army at the young age of 17 and served a four year term in Alaska.
He met and married his first wife, Marilyn Lauseng and had five children. He spent most of his working career in the livestock/feed business helping build quality feed programs for farmer and ranchers.
In 1978 he married Betty Laughlin and resided in Amery, Wisconsin. He retired in 1995 and enjoyed traveling, fishing, family and many friends and hobbies. Ed spent the last months of his life rediscovering the joy of family, and the grace and peace of God. He shared his faith with many and desired for all to know what he discovered in his last months.
The following are his words: "I have known and believed my whole life that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the forgiveness of my sins, I have asked God my Father to forgive me for my sins every day of my life and have known that I could do so because Jesus died and shed his blood on that old rugged cross...what I didn't know was that I needed to receive that forgiveness. I have received that forgiveness now... and the peace in my soul is indescribable. I say... this is Ed E. Mack, and I belong to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. I am not afraid to die for I know where I am going." Ed would want all of his friends to know how much he enjoyed them and that it has been a better journey in this life because of them. God Bless All of You!
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Amery, WI; one son, Tony (Cindy) Mack of Brookings; four daughters, Monica (Ken) Maag of Lead, Joan (Dean) Bauman of Amery, Lenore (Barry) Kelly of Page, NE and Sandy (Bob) Merchen of Helena, MT; one step daughter, Janice (Chuck) Berry of Amery; four sisters, Irene Peters of Sioux Falls, Colette Norbeck of Watertown, Mayanne (Larry) Wonderlin of DesMoines, IA, and his twin, Edmunda Hopkins of Omaha, NE; one step grandson; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
