Leland Frank Nordstrom, 67

December 4, 1946 ~ August 1, 2014

Leland was born December 4, 1946 to Wayne & Mary Jane (Batman) Nordstrom in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Lee's father worked for the railroad in Hastings, Nebraska, and was killed in a train accident when Lee was in grade school. Lee and his mother Mary Jane were very close. She operated a beauty shop in her home so that she could always be there for Lee.

Lee attended Morton Elementary School and graduated from Hastings High School in 1965. After high school, Lee earned a degree from Milford Technical School.

He then moved to Omaha and Kennard and worked for 35 years in construction. Lee worked for the union with E & K Drywall and Allied Construction.

After Lee's graduation, his mother, Mary Jane, moved to Colby, Kansas and married Willie Englehardt.

Lee loved life. He loved to fish and hunt with his lifelong friend, Mike Keeler, and had a trailer in Niobrara, Nebraska, for 40 years. Many deer were shot, many catfish had stink bait for supper, and many ducks and geese fell to the 10 gauge guns. Lee hunted for geese in Mexico, Canada and Brazil; wild boar in Texas; caribou and big horned sheep in Alaska, and antelope in Wyoming. He loved to fish in Montana and South Carolina. Lee's home resembled a taxidermy shop full of mounts.

Lee was proud to be a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Safari Club. He often went on hunts with these groups. He will always be remembered by all of his hunting and fishing buddies, his construction friends, and the Mike Keeler family.

Former Hastings resident, Leland Frank Nordstrom, 67, recently of Kennard, Nebraska, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents and step-father.

He leaves to mourn his passing his aunt & uncle, Laurie & Dent Goertzen, of Aurora, NE, and several cousins.

Services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings, Nebraska, with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert offering words of comfort. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the Leland F. Nordstrom Memorial Fund for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home is serving the family.
