Joseph A. Ream, 71, of 140 N. Water St., a retired City employee, died today at St. Joseph Hospital. He was the husband of Helen McCumsey Ream. He retired in 1971 from City of Lancaster. Ream was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lancaster, and Fin and Feather Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served aboard the USS Missouri. His first wife was the late Dorothy Strimmel Ream. He was born in Lancaster. Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Jeanette, wife of Gerald Chillas; Betty, wife of Miles Suydam; Doris, wife of Warren Herr, and Judy, wife of Amos Burkhart, all of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, and one half brother, Frank Kershgessner, Strasburg.
