Services will be Friday, December 28 at 10:30am at St. Peters Lutheran Church in rural Pender for John H. Bleckwehl, 96, of Pender who died December 24, 1990 at the Pender Care Centre. Rev. Neil Vik will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. John H. Bleckwehl was born August 31, 1894 in Cuming County to Henry and Catherine Meyer Bleckwehl. He married Bertha Buhrman, April 26, 1917 in Pender. They farmed in the Pender area until 1945. At that time they moved into Pender. He was active in the community. His wife, Bertha, preceded him in death in July 1966. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five sisters. He is survived by one son, Henry B. Bleckwehl of South Sioux City, Nebraska, two daughters, Viona Schlotfeld, Kennard and Arlene Manning of Bancroft, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman Bleckwehl of Montebello California.
