St. Joseph, Ill., Dec. 14. – Mrs. Catherine Patterson, better known as "Aunt Katie," died last Saturday at 11 o'clock a.m. The funeral was held Sunday at 10 o'clock p.m. Rev. S. S. Jones having charge of the services. The remains were buried in the Patton cemetery. Miss Catherine Swearingen was born near Mayfield, Ky., Dec. 16, 1808. She came with her mother to Champaign county in 1835, and about 2 years later she became the wife of J. K. Patterson. They had a family of seven children, Mrs. V. B. Swearingen being one of the seven. The deceased was a member of the Christian church for more than 50 years.
