Richard J Mettler, 84 of Lodi died Feb. 4 at a local convalescent hospital following a short illness. A native of Minto, N.D., he moved to Lodi in 1920. He farmed grapes for more than 50 years before his retirement.
Mr. Mettler was a member of the Zion Reforded Church and the California Farm Bureau. He was a past member of Eagles Lodge #848 of Lodi and the Dakota Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Reberta Mettler, in 1966.
Mr. Mettler is survived by two sons, two daughters, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
