Mr. Huskey was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict as an airplane mechanic. He retired from Caldwell Freight Lines and he enjoyed fishing and NASCAR. After retirement he proudly worked for English Construction as an integral part of the construction of the newest edition of Highway 321.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 68 years, Jean Kaylor Huskey and his brother, Ernest Huskey.
Mr. Huskey is survived by his daughter, Judy Hatley and husband, Troy; daughter, Carolyn Huskey; daughter, Cathy Sigmon and husband, Randy; sisters, Idell Good, Marvene Huskey, Josephine Baker, and Delores Younce; brother, W.M. Huskey; grandchildren, Kevin Hatley, Tim Sigmon, Greg Sigmon, Crystal Greer, and Jason Taylor; great-grandchildren, Logan Hatley, Emily Sigmon, Grant Hatley, Allie Greer, Gracie Sigmon, Olivia Taylor, Catherine Sigmon, Madeline Taylor, Kendyl Sigmon, and Mallory Taylor; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A celebration of Mr. Huskey's life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 3:00 PM with Reverend Jim Evans and Reverend Jimmy Duffey officiating. Entombment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Hatley, Tim Sigmon, Greg Sigmon, Jason Taylor, Brandon Rumple, and Jordan Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Logan and Grant Hatley.
